Prenatal ‘Testing’ not Mandatory and is Usually ‘Search and Destroy’

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008 |

Karen L Brauer MS, RPh, President of Pharmacists for Life International, submits the following:

In a routine internet search for the news, I followed a link to a fascinating recent New York Times article “Palin fuses motherhood and politics in a new way”. The author, Jodi Kantor, carefully avoided the more obvious abuse of Sarah Palin by the media, concerning her ability to simultaneously serve as mother and public official. However this quote caught my eye: “In just a few months, she has gone from hiding her pregnancy from those closest to her to toting her infant on stage at the Republican National Convention.

Can Abortion Have Negative Psychological Effects on the Men Involved

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008 |

Psychologists, counselors, academics and clergy are joining with men and women who have had experience with abortion to discuss the procedure’s effects on men at the “Reclaiming Fatherhood” Conference in Chicago, Sept. 8 and 9. They are speaking out about what they say is an “invisible problem” - men, as well as women, can have profound grief and suffering as a result of an abortion experience.

The conference is being held at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook, and is being sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and the Archdiocese of Chicago Office for Evangelization, and was organized by the Milwaukee-based National Office of Post-Abortion Reconciliation and Healing. Attendees have come from throughout North America, and as far away as Europe and Africa.

Abortion-Free States

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008 |

“Despite the increasingly shrill rhetoric of the abortion industry, the simple truth is that business is off,” said David Bereit, national campaign director of 40 Days for Life. “Abortion numbers have dropped so significantly that several states are now down to only one or two remaining abortion centers. This fall’s 40 Days for Life campaign presents a great opportunity to finish the life-saving work in these states, creating abortion-free zones and encouraging other states to follow suit.”

This fall, 40 Days for Life vigils will take place at the last remaining abortion centers in North Dakota and Mississippi, states which each have only one remaining abortion facility, as well as the last two abortion facilities in Nebraska and the last two in Kentucky.

Bishops still playing politics on abortion says President of Catholics for Choice

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 |

Jon O’Brien, president of Catholics for Choice, issued the following statement on the fact sheet on abortion released by the anti-choice lobbying arm of the United States Conference on Catholic Bishops.

“The fact sheet from the bishops’ lobbying arm, the Committee on Pro-Life Activities, reaffirms the U.S. bishops’ desire to place themselves at the center of the political discussion on abortion. However, in doing so, they do not reflect the fullness of Catholic teaching on abortion, nor do they represent what Catholics actually believe.

Church Teaching Against Abortion Constant Through Centuries, Says New Resource

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 |

To help end confusion caused by recent misrepresentations of Catholic Church teaching on abortion, the U.S. bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities has issued a two-page fact sheet called “Respect for Unborn Human Life: The Church’s Constant Teaching.”

Public debate on the topic was prompted by misleading remarks by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, August 24 in an interview on Meet the Press. On August 26, Cardinal Justin Rigali, chairman of the bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, and Bishop William Lori, chairman of their Committee on Doctrine, issued a statement to correct her remarks.Other Catholic bishops released similar statements.

Small Victories Exposes the Truth at Obama-Biden Rally

Sunday, August 24th, 2008 |

Small Victories Ministry brought the truth of abortion to over 35,000 Democratic supporters in Springfield, Illinois, Saturday, August 23, in sweltering heat and humidity. Angela and Daniel Michael and some of their 12 children showed the Obamanites that you can’t serve two masters. Obama claims to be a Christian and Biden is a pro-choice Catholic.

The police harassed us and told us to get out, but we were able to greet Illinois Lt. Governor Pat Quinn and other dignitaries as they were making their entrance to the grandstand surrounding the Old State Capitol building in Springfield, Illinois where the most liberal, pro-abortion presidential candidate was about to present his running mate, Senator Joe Biden, another pro-abort. This is what the Democratic Party stands for. When you put a face on abortion it’s ugly.

Democratic Convention Begins with Thunderous Denunciation of Abortion

Sunday, August 24th, 2008 |

In its first “official event” of the 2008 Democratic Convention, Pentecostal preacher and Bishop Charles E. Blake of the Church of God in Christ, took to the pulpit of an Interfaith Gathering and unequivocally denounced abortion, saying God could not be pleased with millions of lives being ended by elective abortion.

President of the pro-life National Clergy Council, Rev. Rob Schenck, who was present at the event, said, “This is an amazing development. Bishop Blake was crystal clear in condemning abortion. There was nothing subtle about it. He identified himself as a pro-life Democrat and blatantly challenged his party’s historic position on abortion. He also challenged Barack Obama to pursue his promise to reduce abortions and to ensure ‘viable’ alternatives. Just this one moment is a significant turn for the Democratic Party.”

Choice of Biden Re-Opens Catholic Wound according to Fidelis

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008 |

The selection of Delaware Senator Joseph Biden as the vice presidential running mate of Barack Obama
poses a major challenge for American Catholics, according to Fidelis, a national Catholic-based advocacy group. Fidelis warned late last month that a pro-abortion Catholic choice as a vice presidential candidate would offend many Catholics who have struggled with the scandal of prominent pro-abortion Catholic politicians like Senator Biden.

Fidelis President Brian Burch commented, “Barack Obama has re-opened a wound among American Catholics by picking a pro-abortion Catholic politician. The American bishops have made clear that Catholic political leaders must defend the dignity of every human person, including the unborn. Sadly, Joe Biden’s tenure in the United States Senate has been marked by steadfast support for legal abortion.”

Friday, August 22nd, 2008 |

A District Court has issued a twelve-count warrant against WomanCare, a Detroit area abortion mill owned by Alberto Hodari, for illegal dumping of women’s private medical records.

Dr. Monica Migliorino Miller, Director of Citizens for a Pro-life Society, had exposed Hodari’s illegal dumping practices earlier this year when she published a video of his abortion mill trash that contained the records along with the remains of aborted babies. Dr. Miller reported the incident to the authorities.

Planned Parenthood Plays Dirty with Legal Battle says Aurora Pro-Life Citizens

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 |

Planned Parenthood of Illinois is filing a motion in Kane County Circuit Court, alleging a small group of pro-life citizens is trying to squelch its right to free speech. Planned Parenthood is filing the motion based on an Anti-SLAPP law that originally was intended to protect small organizations or citizens against large corporations. On August 22, Judge Judith Brawka will decide on the motion put forward by Planned Parenthood. If the judge rules in favor of Planned Parenthood, it could open the door for other large corporations around the country to use Anti-SLAPP laws to silence any political action group that speaks out against corruption.

SLAPP, which stands for “Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation,” is a lawsuit or a threat of lawsuit that is intended to intimidate and silence critics by burdening them with the cost of a legal defense until they abandon their criticism or opposition. Many states have enacted anti-SLAPP laws in order to protect small grassroots organizations from having their First Amendment rights trampled by large corporations. In Illinois, the Anti-SLAPP law is called the Citizen Participation Act and was enacted in August 2007.

Conservatives Can Also Play the Maverick Game

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 |

The following is an open letter from Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, to Senator John McCain in regard to news reports that the Republican presidential candidate may select a vice presidential running mate who supports abortions rights:

Dear Senator McCain:

The buzz in recent days has been that some of your key aides were calling national and state GOP leaders to alert them to the possibility that you were seriously considering a pro-abortion running mate and to take their temperature on such a selection.
