Sleeping dogs might not be a perfect game, but the combat system is one of the best we’ve seen and more enjoyable than any beat ‘em up game in the market, Rockstar should take note.

GTA V combat and grappling system

The only problem with this is that only Trevor is able to have skills in combat arts.

That’s one problem we have with this 3 protagonists system.

Some features are getting disqualified by the personality of one ore two of the protagonists.

And building a combat system for only one of the guys seems to be unrealistic for Rockstar Games to do.

Another thing is the grappling system or hostile mode in Sleeping Dogs.

You can take an enemy by pressing B. Then you can run with them by pressing the sprint button and when you equip your weapon you are using him as shield.

You should be awarded for fighting often and that is definitely not the case in GTA IV.

And that’s not just saying, in GTA 4 it seems like the counter system makes what it wants.

You can press the counter button at the right time sometimes but Niko does nothing.

And when you countered and attack and want to make these finishing move he sometimes doesn’t react.

The system in GTA IV makes it job but is far from being something you want to do over and over and being satisfied because even when you win against two or more it was luck rather than skill.

But as it seems we wont get any new features like these. Except blowing up cars with canister and zippo.

At least the guy from Gamekings who was at the GTA 5 demo said that he didn’t saw such things.

And if there would have been any Rockstar Games would have used them in the demo.

That makes us worry again. There so many possibilities and suggestions from the GTA V community and it seems like they don’t listen to such things.

Of course there can be new things. But we think they would have announced it during the demo and Gameinformer and other video games publication would have wrote about it.

Due to recent developments we do believe the next The Elder Scrolls game will be set in Hammerfell.

Skyrim Redguard, The Elder Scrolls VI: Hammerfell?

A few reasons for this.

First they trademarked “Redguard” and if they don’t use that for a Skyrim expansion or something else (which is now unlikely as the beth team have moved on to their next project) then i’ll bet its on The Elder Scrolls 6.

Its very similar to when they trademarked Skyrim a while back before the game was announced.

I also feel that with Redguard they have a lot more lore to go by which was part of their reasoning behind choosing Skyrim for The Elder Scrolls V.

Its also where the main fighting with the Aldmeri Dominion has been, and I would not be surprised if the Empire fell and then the Aldmeri Dominion focuses all its attention on Hammerfell as the next game begins.

Its also a region that would provide completely different environment types from Skyrim, more so than many other provinces I feel.

Sure Black Marsh for example has some very interesting environments such as swamp lands, jungle like, and so forth but I don’t think they would be attempting something like that yet.

Graphically speaking, a jungle environment would take allot more work to get right and Bethesda would prob need to know the next generation consoles better by then, in order to see what they are capable of producing.

The only aspect I am not sure on is when Todd Howard said once that they would always want to do something new, essentially, not doing stuff they already have done.

And technically Hammerfell was within the game “Daggerfall” along with the province of Daggerfall, which makes me unsure.

If they trademark another province name or use Redguard for something else, then this opinion will go out the window.

But until then, thats my prediction.

Microsoft has already started selling Xbox for $99 with a two year $14.99 Xbox Live Gold contract.

Would you buy Xbox 720 or PS4 on a subscription model?

If this was the only way to buy Xbox 720 and because of always-on DRM a Live subscription would be required to play any game (or use the system in any way) would the “lower” price points be enough?

What if you didn’t have to spend $59.99 per game: You don’t physically own any of the games, you rent them from the cloud (some games are included with your Xbox LIVE membership, or add rental costs to your monthly fee).

You get the Xbox 720 hardware for $99, you pay a required base rate of $14.99 a month.

Each video game you rent costs $xx a month, but when you no longer want to play a game, you unsubscribe from it and stop paying for it.

Seems, to me, like the best of both worlds for an always-on DRM.

Paying for hardware that won’t always work is a tough pill to swallow, that’s why the price needs to be subsidized by a required subscription, but not having to pay “full price” for games you don’t actually own (or control) could convince a lot of people that always-on DRM is ok for “rented” games at cheap price points.

Of course, the same can be said with Sony and PlayStation 4.

Weight and battery life of iPad 5 will be immense new features for users.

Weight and Battery Life in Apple’s new iPad 5

Moreover, if they add the new in cell displays like the ones in iPhone 5 that would be fantastic addition to the new iPad 5.

Don’t forget the iPad will have the same design language of the iPhone 5 and the iPad mini it is frankly the best design on the consumer tablet market right now.

In terms of build quality of the new iPad it will be a much much better product than the existing design let alone all the other Android tablets.

I have the iPhone 5 and it feels like a single solid piece of hardware, as expected from Apple.

It’s incredibly well made and the new iPad design will have the same feel to it which makes it a much better product to buy.

You don’t need whiz bang features all the time to please the market.

When you think about it, these incremental updates can have a big impact on usability too.

Microsoft aren’t spinning anything.

Google says they won’t make an app, citing lack of potential revenue compared to developer costs. Microsoft makes their own app (and Google doesn’t have to spend a dime) via unofficial APIs (which dozens of other developers do) and they ask them to take it down citing it is taking away revenue.

But I thought the revenue was irrelevant because of market share? What about the apps on iOS and Android that circumvent YouTube ads?

What about AdBlock (which I’m sure steals more revenue from Google than Windows Phone users even if every one of them was using the YouTube app)?

Why not target any of these apps that have been around for far longer?

Furthermore MS says they would gladly put ads in the app, but Google won’t let them. Google is literally cutting off a free source of revenue just to attack consumers who use Microsoft mobile devices.

It’s the height of hypocrisy and it’s stupid.

People can try to spin this any way they want, but bottom line is Google is being a dick and nobody should be supporting them and their childish games.

So over the weekend, I was working on a project and as part of the delivery I had to upload and make the DVD copy of the final version.

After moments after hitting “burn” I saw a notification on my screen claiming the computer will be restarted shortly to carry out an update.

At first I thought Windows 8 will be smart enough to let the “burn” finish. But no it didn’t.

Just when the burning process was 90% done, the computer restarted destroying the DVD. It was the last disk I had around.

A few moments later, the person who was supposed to pick up the disk came around.

When I told him my ordeal, his first reaction was “do you still use Windows?” when I replied yes, he bursts into laughter.

In my situation, it wasn’t much of a big deal because the guy I had to make the delivery for was very understanding but I can imagine this ruining the lives and jobs of so many people.

Causing them to lose money, job and clients.

Reflecting back on my ordeal. I am amazed how this can happen.

Microsoft has over 25 years experience building Windows, serving over 1.3 billion computers around.

How could they not have thought about this?

Per Microsoft’s thinking, the “stupid” updates are more important that the purpose for which I bought the computer. How insane is that?

It is not as if this is an isolated incident, several people have complained about this, including Microsoft’s own websites.

These little dreadful experiences when put together contributes to people hating Windows and Microsoft at large.

Who’s winning, Apple’s iOS or Google’s Android?

Apple won the business side of Google’s Android

Android has the biggest market share in the global smartphone operating system market, Apple has the most financial success with the iPhone and iPad in their respective markets.

With (according to some sources at least) more people browsing the web on iOS all over the world and spending money in the iOS App Store and iTunes.

In that respect, you can say that iOS is not only good for Apple, but arguably also better for third parties such as app developers from a business standpoint.

Even for Google, iOS is important; they’re quite possibly making more money off Safari than of their own Android search platform services.

All in all, Apple’s iOS is ‘winning’ the business battle.

But as a consumer, this doesn’t really matter if iOS fails to deliver what you need, want or like.

You shouldn’t pick the ‘winning’ platform, you should pick the one that fits you the most in terms of maximizing your smartphone’s lifestyle.

I would recommend you take a look at the Panasonic GH2 and GH3.

Being a Micro 4/3s camera, you can adapt almost any lens to the body (including ridiculous things like PL mount cinema lenses), which means you can buy older photography lenses for much cheaper than new lenses.

Best DSLR Camera for Videography Work

Many of the older lenses don’t have auto-focus, but if you’re shooting video you wouldn’t want to rely on that anyway.

Another camera I would look into is the new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.

It’s not really a DSLR per se, but it’s under $1,000, has a M 4/3 lens mount and shoots either RAW CinemaDNG files or ProRes 422 (HQ) files, which would go directly into Final Cut Pro.

In my opinion, Canon really blew the doors off the DSLR video market with the 5D Mark II, but since then they haven’t really tried to innovate.

Instead, they’re trying to push people into their much more expensive Cinema line (C100, C300, C500).

They also keep releasing the same camera (essentially) in different camera bodies.

The 7D, T3i, 60D, T4i, etc. all have the same exact sensor. And their lenses are way too expensive.

Nikon cameras are great for stills and they’ve been lagging behind for video, but apparently their new D5200 is really great.

I haven’t used it personally, but EOSHD seems to love it.

The GH3 (body) costs about $1,300, but the GH2 (body) is now about $600-700.

B&H is no longer carrying the GH2, but I’m sure you can find it on eBay.

One of the biggest differences between the two is the build quality — the GH2 is plastic and the GH3 is magnesium alloy, which is weather sealed.

Once hacked, the GH2 is a real beast. Shane Carruth shot Upstream Color on it.

The overall image quality of the Pocket will undoubtedly be way better than the T3i, but from what I’ve read, I can’t tell if the Pocket is capable of taking stills or not.

I find it hard to believe Blackmagic would not include that feature, but it is a video camera as opposed to a DSLR that happens to take video.

Efficient servers with TU12 patch?

I think I have an idea for the upcoming Minecraft Xbox 360 update that will be a nice way to bridge the “server” problem.

Connecting your server to your friend’s server, using the edges of your server.

How this works:

Your XBL Minecraft map is a square, obviously.

In the settings, you designate four friends – one for each edge – to connect to. When you move towards the edge of your map, and your friend is online (she or he cannot be offline, as there would be no way to access that world) a portal effect happens (gives you a few seconds to move back out of portal if you made a mistake.)

When you portal, the game saves your server. The reason for this is to prevent duplication.

There will be no way to just take your diamond over to your friend’s server, drop it, shut off your console, and repeat.

Now, the game may not be able to handle loading 2 (or more) maps for separate people on one Xbox 360.

The only way I really see this being able to succeed is that everybody on your local Xbox 360 has to agree to go through the portal.

To make things fair, perhaps all local players have to be present at that portal for the warp to happen.

This way, you can’t just “warp” people to another server, then that person goes back through and they got a free warp to the edge of your map.

If you have friends playing on your server, and you warp out of your server, they MUST either leave with you, or just leave the server.

There is no way the map would be able to save to or load from your hard disk if you are not on it, so there would be no way for your left-behind friend to keep playing.

Limitations do not stop there, however.

Obviously, if your party size is larger than what’s allowed on your friend’s server at the moment (example: He has five people in his server, you have four in your local party) there will be no warp, and you will be given a message “Too many players on (Gamertag)’s server” or similar.

Also, you cannot warp to a friend’s server if you’re modes are incompatible (you are playing Survival, she or he is playing Creative.)

Again, to prevent doping and cheating.

I’m not sure where to go with this element, but I think that touching ANY edge of your friend’s map should warp you back to your original map.

I really don’t think it would be a good idea to allow you to warp to a friend’s server, then warp to their friend’s server (due to potential griefing issues.)

But, who knows? Maybe that would be awesome.

The only other issue (I see) with allowing multiple warps, is that you would have to “hardwire” you and your friend’s connection.

This means that you would have to send an “Edge Request” to a friend, and they will have to put you on one of their edges as well (to still allow you a way back home if you get to a server where your friend did not connect their server to yours.)

We could increase the connections to friend’s worlds by utilizing corners.

Designated the same way with the edges, but including the four corners of a map as more player options, totaling eight.

If you are nudging towards a corner (two edges) of the world, you will warp to that designated corner friend’s world.

Finally, this is not just map-tied. You aren’t connecting your edge to a friend’s world, you are connecting it to HIM or HER DIRECTLY.

Which means that you might have warped to their flat world yesterday, but if they want to play their normal seed today, you will be warping to that instead.

Summary, because I know some people might miss facts and flame me:

Set edges (and perhaps corners) to friend’s XBL Gamertags

Use the edges and corners to warp to ONLINE friend’s worlds

All players in a server will have to move to chosen server at once

(To prevent warp cheat) All people in a server will have to be present at same portal to warp

Game will not allow you to portal if too many players are in the server you are trying to reach

Game will not allow you to portal if your game modes are incompatible (Survival into Creative)

(Probably, due to tech issues) No warping from a friend’s world to their friends. Touching any of your friend’s edges warps you back to your server (at the area you warped from)

(Alternate from above) Must “Edge Request” to enable the warping, so your friend connects a way back for you

Game saves your server at warp to prevent duplication

Not tied to friend’s Map, tied to GAMERTAG (you warp to whatever map they are playing on at the moment)

(Alternate to above) Game will prevent warp if THEY are playing on another person’s map, using connections

No release date set for the upcoming Minecraft Xbox 360 TU12 update.

It has basically been confirmed that there is a mission or set of missions based around a jewel heist in Grand Theft Auto V.

Is Diamond Heist in GTA 5 all about the cash?

What interests me is what would the protagonists do with jewels.

They can’t exactly walk into a bank and deposit a bag of diamonds.

Which leads me to believe that there will be some outside influences on certain heists and why we pursue them.

Ideally, stolen jewels would be better off in the hands of someone of mass wealth, who can buy the jewels from our “heros” and distribute them discretely overseas.

This makes me think that not every heist will be about getting cash for the three protagonists (Michael, Trevor Phillips and Franklin), but perhaps pursuing the desires of others.

Here is a scenario.

Lets say Jimmy (Michael’s son) gets kidnapped by the mafia from Mexico.

The Mexicans will only give him back on the conditions that our three protagonists break into the military base and rob the armory, supplying them with weapons.

What do you guys think?

What would the protagonists do with the jewelry?

What outside motives could there be for some of the main heists?
