Tablets are essentially large mobile phones with processors that are more similar to computers.
Due to its compact size, consumers are more apt to purchase this device, especially if they are constantly on the go. They are also more pleasing to own because of their simplicity. No keyboard or mouse attachments are required, but they can be attached for one’s convenience. Much like a cell phone, tablets have built- in cameras (both regular and front facing). Furthermore, they are touch screens, but because tablets are bigger than cell phones, it is much easier to do more – such as play games, type and read. Because of their popularity, companies that produce these devices have made them nearly the best they can be while keeping them in a reasonable price range. These also appeal to the older generation as well as small children, as using a larger screen without a mouse or keyboard is a lot easier that learning to control a desktop or laptop.
The 2014 edition of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has been praised in customer reviews. This newer version has much more to offer than previous makes. As a whole, the general reason for excitement is due to one of its new functionalities. ChatON enables users to use a My Page in an all new way. One’s My Page can be customized as well as used to bring groups of people together for conversation. In general, consumers have chosen this device over others because of its ChatON function. This enables features in My Page, which allows users to make a personal profile and create group chats. Within these group chats, one is able to send texts, pictures, videos and audio files. Whatever files have been transported are automatically saved to one’s Trunk.
In this new edition, a customized version of TouchWiz UX has been used. This allows users to be able to use applications more properly, such as Google Play, Gmail and YouTube. In additional to this, the Note also comes with a stylus, allowing for more abilities. The pen opens up more functions with the tablets Air Command and Action Memo functions. Within the Action Memo, the tablet is able to recognize handwriting and pick up on key words. Some keywords allow for Google Maps to search, web searches and even dialing phone numbers.
Galaxy Note 8.0
When compared to the Galaxy Note 8.0, the 10.1 edition blows it out of the water. Everything about the 8.0 is a much lesser quality than that of the 10.1. The 10.1 has a 2560 X 1600 pixel resolution with a pixel density of 299 ppi. In comparison, the 8.0 has a small screen and has a much smaller resolution of 1280 X 800 pixels with a pixel density of just 189 ppi. Additionally, the 8.0 has a camera 3 megapixels less than its competitor, bringing it in at just 5 megapixels compared to 8. While 5 megapixels is still better than what the average phone is equipped with, it is usually better to go with the better quality. The most effected part of the battle is the hardware. The Galaxy Note 8.0 has only a 1.6 GHz processor and 2 gigabytes of RAM while the Note 10.1 has a 2.3 GHz processor and 3 gigabytes of RAM. Even though it may not seem like much, such a “small” difference is truly a lot.
When comparing hardware and other functionalities, it is hard to see why one would choose the 8.0 over the 10.1. In the end it could come down to size for added user friendliness. Better hardware is really the best route to go.
