Tips on Handling the End of a Friendship

By on January 24, 2018 in General

How close are you with your best friend? Do you consider them to be a part of the family? Blood may be thicker than water, but true friendships can produce a very deep emotional connection. As a result, when one ends, it can be quite difficult for some to cope with this loss.

Are you experiencing this right now because a friendship has ended? Here are some suggestions that may help to ease the pain you are in.

Accept That People Change

Are you the same person you were ten years ago? Five years ago? Last year? We all change and that can alter both our interests and attitudes. Put Memories Aside

Is there a gift from your friend that holds particular significance for you? A picture of the two of you together? While you should keep such memories, this might not be the best time to display them. Put these things away for the time being.

Keep a Journal

It might be painful to think about the current situation and you may not feel motivated to write about it. However, putting your pain down on paper can help. Also, when you revisit these pages, the subject often does not seem as intense and this can be a step in helping you to move on.
