Accuracy matters to Society & Religion.

When we identify a significant factual error, we aim to correct it promptly.

We distinguish between two kinds of change. A correction fixes a material factual error — a wrong statistic, a misattributed source or an inaccurate claim. An update reflects newly released data, such as a new census or survey, and is marked with a revised ‘Last updated’ date on the article.

Material corrections are reflected in the article and, where appropriate, accompanied by a correction or update note so readers can see what changed.

Because religious statistics are often revised by the agencies that publish them, we review our demographic articles when a national statistical office or major research organisation releases new figures, and update them accordingly.

Readers who believe they have identified an error may contact us and provide the relevant article, the specific statement in question and any supporting evidence. We review every report and respond where a correction is warranted.
