One of the clearest social trends visible in our country studies is secularisation: the share of people reporting no religion has risen sharply in places as different as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, South Korea and Singapore, even as religion remains central to public life in Indonesia, the Philippines, India and Thailand.
